What do you know about the Thames Gateway?

The Thames Gateway is the area running down the River Thames from Canary Wharf to the Isle of Sheppey, on the Kent coast, and to Southend on the Essex side.

It is an area that includes much industrial wasteland and areas of deprivation but it is close to London and, with the coming of the High Speed Rail link to the Channel Tunnel, Europe. It has been identified as, potentially, the greatest Regeneration area in Europe.

The Government has committed itself to the regeneration of the area.

To facilitate this regeneration the area is divided into 3 Partnerships

Thames Gateway London Partnership

(The London Boroughs north and south of the river)

Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership

(The Essex coastal area from Thurrock to Southend)

Thames Gateway Kent Partnership

(The Kent coastal area, including Ebbsfleet)
