· Department for Communities and Local Government (used to be the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) (DCLG)

· East of England Regional Assembly (EERA)

IN THE THAMES GATEWAY

· Thames Gateway Directorate within DCLG is responsible for implementing government policy

· Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership (one of 3 Partnerships, with London and Kent)

(This is not a delivery body but a partnership of all those interested in developing the area.

It includes Unitary Authorities, Local and County Authorities, Business, Community, etc.)

IN LOCAL AUTHORITIES

· Thurrock Council (a Unitary Authority – i.e. not part of Essex County Council)

· Southend Council (a Unitary Authority)

· Essex County Council (responsible for Basildon, Castle Point, Rochford and 9 other, non TG Boroughs)
